Applications

130309-33-0 Fmoc-D-Tic-OH is one of intermediates of Icatibant.

HAE is a rare genetic disorder caused by the deficiency or dysfunction of C1-esterase inhibitor (C1-INH), leading to abnormal elevations in bradykinin levels. Bradykinin, a potent vasodilator and inflammatory mediator, accumulates excessively in HAE patients, triggering characteristic symptoms such as localized swelling, inflammation, and pain.

Icatibant, as a selective competitive antagonist of bradykinin B2 receptor, inhibits the binding of bradykinin to B2 receptors, thereby blocking the biological effects mediated by bradykinin and rapidly alleviating acute symptoms in HAE patients. Its rapid onset makes icatibant an essential treatment option for HAE acute attacks.

In addition to HAE treatment, icatibant has also shown potential in other therapeutic indications, such as asthma, liver cirrhosis, and other types of angioedema. However, these potential applications are currently under investigation and have not yet gained widespread clinical use.
